October Exploratorium: Writing to the Dead

Greetings, Shining Tribe!
I have a practice of writing to the dead in late fall. It’s evolved into offerings I share with others—mostly through Love Letters to the Dead—so we can gather to write together in community.
Personal understandings of the Shining Tribe’s suit of Bird that have come to me out of my experience of my Beloveds entering into Death are the mystical logic beneath this practice. So I asked to do this October session. As sometimes happens, ideas fed ideas and I now have a three-part plan.
In our 90 minutes together on Sunday, October 26 starting at 12:30pm ET (time zone converter), we will:
Look at how the suit of Birds shows how such communion could be possible.
Together create a Rachel Pollack Love Poem using couplets drawn from Rachel’s poems at the start of each card. Each person will contribute one couplet. I am not yet sure if this will be our love poem to Rachel or if she will send a love poem to us—or both! We shall see what emerges. I’ll guide us through a process.
Write a love note to one of our beloved dead inspired by a Shining Tribe card. I’ll also have prompts to support receiving a love note back.
Obviously bring your deck and also have your book handy. You may want to have a blank card handy: something like a 4 x 5 piece of card stock with nothing on it. No worries if you don’t have it handy that day. You can do it later. All will be explained in the session.
